"I can say without reservation chiropractic SAVED MY LIFE…
and now, IT IS MY LIFE!"

I did not grow up wanting to be a chiropractor...in fact, chiropractic found me. I had just been discharged from military service and was about to enter college. Kathy and I had been married for a few years and I was excited about my new college adventure. I thought life was great, that is, until I woke up one morning and my hands and knees felt stiff and sore…I was only 26 years old. Day after day, I felt sorer and stiffer and then I went to pay a visit to my uncle, who was a medical doctor. He ran a series of tests and diagnosed …Rheumatoid Arthritis!
My uncle sent me home with a prescription for cortisone and recommend that I “take as many aspirin as my stomach could stand” which averaged up to 20 to 40 aspirins a day. For years I suffered with excruciating back, knee and hand pain… worsening and debilitating pain that was likely to prevent me from graduating from college. My face was swollen from the cortisone and my kidneys and stomach were suffering from all of the other drugs. I was on a cane and crutches for almost three years…and I was getting worse every year.
One day, while searching through the library at UW-Green Bay, I found some information on Chiropractic…the “natural” health care profession that helped the body heal itself without drugs or surgery. What did I have to lose?… I applied to Palmer College of Chiropractic to become a chiropractor. While there, I received chiropractic care and started an intense nutrition program. Within three years I was functioning normally and pain free. In 1979, I graduated from Chiropractic College, returned to my hometown of Oconto, and started my chiropractic practice with my wife Kathy.
I can say without reservation chiropractic SAVED MY LIFE… and now, IT IS MY LIFE!
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Palmer College is the first and largest Chiropractic College in the world. It was started by D.D. Palmer, the Discoverer of Chiropractic. What surprised me most about Chiropractic College was its emphasis on the philosophy of chiropractic. I was taught, for the very first time in my education, five very important concepts that are literally the foundation of the Chiropractic profession. The five concepts are as follows:
- The body is a self-healing and self-regulating organism.
- The brain and nervous system are the master controlling and coordinating system of the body. Signals travel from the brain to every cell of your body and back to the brain again. This connection of the brain to the tissue cells accomplishes this controlling and coordinating process.
- Any interference of the nervous system results in an immediate loss of control and coordination, a loss of function and a loss of health.
- Subluxations (misalignment's of the spine) can interfere with the nervous system causing loss of function and health.
- Chiropractic locates and removes subluxations, thereby, removing nerve interference, restoring function and health, through specific, scientific chiropractic adjustments.
I learned from this how my body healed itself and it was… As simple as that!
In addition to removing nerve interference and restoring function to each and every patient in my practice, I am also aware that lifestyle choices, that each patient makes, are determining factors as to the level of health and wellness they, and their family, will be able to achieve.
Doctor means “teacher” and through the process of building a relationship with each of my patients and their families I would love the opportunity to teach, coach and guide my patients and their families to higher levels of health through a gradual and easy process of positive lifestyle changes. If one eats well, moves well, and thinks well they will be well.
My main focus is on Families and Wellness. My children and grandchildren have been under chiropractic since the day they were born. I strongly believe every child deserves to have their teeth checked, their eyes checked and they also deserve to have their spine and nervous systems checked… to provide them with every opportunity to have the most healthy and productive life possible.
I absolutely love what I do and I love helping families and children. There is absolutely nothing more rewarding than having a child come to my office suffering from ear infections, asthma, allergies, bedwetting or ADHD and then watch them respond so rapidly to chiropractic care and, more often than not, resolve these conditions, never to experience them again. No words can describe how blessed and grateful that makes me feel.
My wife Kathy and I were born and raised in the community of Oconto. We feel Oconto and the surrounding communities are a wonderful place to live and raise children. We love the "small town" experience and life. We have two children Eric and Steve and two grandchildren Mary and Brooke.
I believe very strongly in “walking my talk.” Kathy and I receive wellness chiropractic adjustments weekly and are focused on improving our health and wellness on a daily basis. At 4:30 AM, weather permitting, you can catch Kathy and I on our morning walk around Oconto which ends with a refreshing drink of freshly juiced organic vegetables and fruits.
It may surprise most people to know that my children and grandchildren are not vaccinated and never have taken medications of any kind. Also, my grandchildren were born at home with the assistance of a midwife. My children and grandchildren enjoy wellness chiropractic adjustments weekly. The result of this lifestyle philosophy is excellent health for each member of the family. Are we lucky? I don’t personally believe in luck, but I do 100% believe in honoring God’s design and good lifestyle choices.
I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge. Give our Oconto office a call or email me with the link below.
